·          Abortion is the most common medical procedure in the United States

·          In 2000, 1.31 million abortions were performed in the United States alone

·          33% of women having abortions are ages 20-24

·          23% women having abortions are ages 25-29

·          18% women having abortions are ages 15-19

·          Women who have abortions are mainly young, single, from minority groups and low-  income
